Good day friends! My name is Jason and I love this Sitecore community we have! For those that haven’t gotten the chance to connect with me over the years, I first joined the community as a partner back in 2011 at a little shop in Canada called nonlinear creations. Had a blast, became a four-time Sitecore Technology MVP, and then joined Sitecore for 7 years! I have always spoken more to a developer audience over the years, but have tried to widen that field as time has moved along. It’s been a big year of change and for the first time in a long while I have the chance to apply again for Sitecore MVP! Thank you for taking a look, I hope I’ve been able to make your job easier by pulling content together here.
Application Category: Digital Strategy.
As a former Technology MVP, I feel like I still uphold the community concepts of that category in terms of contributions but I feel that my content has gone up a level from code-level solutions and CI/CD topics that I used to cover back in those times. I am now more focused on technical leadership or industry topics, still with a technical bend on most of my content. Honestly, choosing a category was tough for me as I feel that my current marketing leadership position has elements that make it fit with the Ambassador category as well. I feel that I’ve shown a consistent dedication to participating and lifting up the community, while also being an ambassador for Sitecore products in the industry and with customers. Technology? Digital Strategy? Ambassador? I feel like I try to dabble across all of these.
Does my time at Sitecore count?
I already know that my time at Sitecore makes judging this application a little bit different, especially with how community-focused my role at Sitecore was. To help with review, I’ve separated the “at Sitecore” and “after Sitecore” community contributions, but I wanted to include it all to show that this was a consistent and devoted passion throughout the year to support the Sitecore community and push for greater demand for Sitecore solutions.
🤖 A note on AI Usage: It’s a brave new world and I know that the review team is likely facing the issue of determining the impact of AI in the process of reviewing MVP applications. I have attempted to note on every piece of content where AI was used to either generate or alter the content. If there is no note on a piece of content, that means that AI was either not used at all (usually the case) or was used only as a tool for copy editing validation where the content changed was less than 10% of the content.
The Fishtank Era Begins!
After leaving Sitecore in late May 2024, I’ve been trying to continue sharing content that will help Sitecore community members as well as customers, but also focusing on the underlying business problems that digital marketing teams face to help generate demand for Sitecore solutions. During this time, I also returned to the partner community as the Vice President of Engagement at Fishtank Consulting.
In my role, I have some responsibilities that are more business-focused where we look to grow the Sitecore and Fishtank brands and drive revenue. This is definitely ‘Ambassador’ category type of activity where I try to work tightly with our partner account manager Zack Domangue on identifying ways that Fishtank and Sitecore can work together to grow our businesses.
However, I also am very focused on regularly sharing with the community, participating in channels such as #SitecoreLunch calls on Fridays, chatting in Sitecore Slack, occasional StackExchange moderation, and my favourite which is creating content! Please find below some of the contributions I have made publicly both in engaging with the community and content creation.

My written content has spanned Sitecore events, Sitecore products, generative AI, Next.js hosting, and content marketing. Some of these are more in-depth, while others are more about commentary on current industry trends or news.
🎙 ️Podcasts, Videos, and Webinars (6)
In addition to written content, I’ve had some other forms of media that I’ve done:
- An XM Cloud migration webinar as a collaboration with Netlify
- An industry podcast with Voxgig
- A video series about Next.js hosting providers on the Fishtank YouTube channel.
🛜 Social Engagement
For several years now I’ve run a sort of ‘curated news’ approach with my accounts, sharing content daily that I feel is interesting and relevant to the audience, sprinkled in with my own self-promotion or promotion of community members or colleagues.
I maintain an active social engagement across multiple platforms, with my LinkedIn profile being my primary professional presence. I also have been attempting to build engagement for Sitecore-related content and community on BlueSky and Mastodon for quite some time now, but these accounts will also share other non-Sitecore content from jasonstcyr.com.
I spent a good chunk of time trying to build out a Facebook page this year, but I do not feel I use Facebook as a strategic platform. It’s there, but engagement is low.
You might ask: Where are the Sitecore User Groups? SUGCON? Symposium? Unfortunately, in-person events for engagement are not an option for me and I did not prioritize my time on virtual webinars and SUGs this year as I have found that written content and video have a longer ROI, but I am hopeful to have more time to add on some virtual events in the future.
🧑💻 GitHub contributions
👈 My GitHub.
I haven’t been a day-to-day developer in a very long time, but I still try to contribute where I can. Below are some recent contributions:
While at Sitecore
I was truly honoured to be able to spend my days focused on how to support the community in my role at Sitecore. As the Director for Developer Relations at Sitecore, my focus was definitely more strategic on supporting my team that was delivering Community, Developer Advocacy, and Developer Platforms. Outside of this strategic role in supporting and growing the community, I did my best to also provide individual contributions. Below are some of the pieces where I was directly involved in as a contributor.

🧑💻 GitHub contributions
As part of my role I made numerous updates to the XM Cloud Introduction, Developer Portal and Sitecore Migration Advisor repositories. As categories, I would place them as:
- Developer Portal: XM Cloud Tutorials
- Developer Portal: FAQ updates for XM Cloud, Personalize, and other products as needed
- Developer Portal: Adding guided product tours to the product pages
- Migration Advisor: Functionality improvements, particularly around new paths for users and selection tracking
These contributions should not count towards an MVP category, but I highlight them here to show my continued efforts to improve the ability for the community to understand Sitecore products and be able to guide customers on their journey.
🧑🏫 XM Cloud Tutorials
Working with Sebastian Winter as an SME, I was the tutorial writer for the following XM Cloud beginner tutorials published to the Developer Portal. These eventually evolved and became official documentation on doc.sitecore.com

🧭 Migration Advisor
In December 2023 we launched the Migration Advisor where I was one of the key members of the team, particularly focused on defining the stages, selections, logical paths, and recommendations for content.
The Migration Advisor was intended as a way to learn about a customer’s current XM/XP/XC implementation and then recommend to them the content for guides and migration content from Sitecore and the community that could help them in their situation.

Thank you for your time!
It has been a privilege to be a part of this community and I look forward to the day that I can rejoin the Sitecore MVP community. Have a great day, but don’t forget:
