Welcome to the table.

Today, let’s talk about character concepts. When you first get started with the system, you don’t know the mechanics of how to build a character, so I like to start from a character concept. This means you have an idea in your head, regardless of what the rules are, of what kind of character you want to create.

You might start with a character from a movie or a book, some kind of archetype you can work with to give you an idea of how you want your character to be. This makes it a lot easier when you then start going through all the rules, figuring out the mechanics of how to play the game to then say, “Oh, my character fits best with this particular type of class or these abilities seem to play well into that type of character.

If you can start from a concept, it’s going to be a lot easier for you to trim down the amount of rules you need to look at and then focus in and make your character a lot faster.
